My qualifications include a BSc Honours degree from Bath University in Addiction Counselling and I am also a member of FDAP (Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals)

I am trained in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), MI (Motivational Interviewing) and RP (Relapse Prevention) and have worked full time in drug and alcohol rehabs (Clouds House, Addiction Recovery Agency and Walsingham House) for over 7 years

Counselling available in central Bristol between 5pm and 7pm Monday to Thursday (next to bus station, unfortunately no car parking available)

RESEARCH/NEW INITIATIVES

1       2007/8 Partnership research with Bristol Psychopharmological Department headed by professor Nutt on the drug D-Cycloserine and its relapse prevention effects on the brain.

2       July 2008 Walsingham House Program Effects Case Study of Effectiveness Of A Residential Rehabilitation Setting For Treatment Of Dual Diagnosed Clients at Walsingham House.

3       Journey in to Rehab (on going), joint researcher in to waiting times for Bristol residents to access rehab

4       2006 created a residential dual diagnosis abstinence based service in partnership with Cliff Hoyle, a dual diagnosis specialist, which is now in its 3rd successful year

5       Start up consultant to The Gateway Project (a drug treatment agency), Burnley, Lancashire 2007

6       Single handily completed the EATA (European Association for the Treatment of Addiction) accreditation process for Walsingham House including writing the complete treatment manual.

 

TRAINING DELIVERY

1       In 2008 specialist tutor with the Custom Course Centre, Care and Health Faculty, City of Bristol College co-delivering the Introduction to Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults course

2       Autumn 2007 in partnership with BSDAS (Bristol Specialist Drug and Alcohol Service) co-delivery of addiction awareness training to the nursing staff of UBHT (University of Bristol Health Care Trust) as part of their on going professional development

3       February 2008 specialist tutor in dual diagnosis to the AoA (Action on Addiction) Foundation Degree in Addiction Counselling in partnership with Bath University
